MWEN Group is a newly revived group committed to reducing poverty in rural communities within the South West, North West and West regions of Cameroon. Our organization has made little impact since its creation however we are committed to using first hand information on issues we have experienced within these communities. Preparing over 40 community 5 years development plans in the past and working in close collaboration with rural communities vulnerable to poverty we believe our knowledge and commitment are a key to solving this problem.
MWEN group is a common initiative group created by Mme Mponge Diana on the 8th of May 2009. Our Head Office is at Buea road Kumba in the South West Region of the country Cameroon. Our mission is mainly to promote poverty alleviation by creating developmental activities in rural communities within south west, north west and west regions. We seek to empower individuals and communities to break the cycle of poverty by providing sustainable solutions, creating livelihoods, fostering economic opportunity, improving access to basic needs, including agricultural tools, education, micro finance, water, and power. We take into consideration all stakeholders in the process and ensurecommunities bring forth their own ideas and participate in the process to sow sustainable action.
In compliance with law no92/006 of 14 august 1992 relating to cooperative societies and common initiative groups and its decree of application no 92/455/PM of 23 november 1992. MWEN CIG was given a certificate of Registration by the Provincial Chief of service of registry of Co-operative societies and common initiative groups on the 08th of May 2009 no SW/GP/038/09/7971.
Today, due to the conflict in the North West (NW) and South West (SW) regions and its impact to the West region (as a result of displaced persons leaving NWSW) MWEN Group has contact points in Limbe, Bafang and Kumba (head quarters).
Thegroup was founded by a rural woman whose major goal was to increase her household income while she stayed at Ndop. She started with a corn and soya beans farm. She later on did pig, goat farming and she owned and managed a poultry farm. She continued with soap making, embroidery andshe wrote more than five books.
Shetrained her children alongside countless women and men in the activities above.
After some careful thought and advice from partners, she founded MWEN Group.
