Support Our Mission
Our mission is mainly to promote poverty alleviation by creating developmental activities in rural communities within south west, north west and west regions. We seek to empower individuals and communities to break the cycle of poverty by providing sustainable solutions, creating livelihoods, fostering economic opportunity, improving access to basic needs, including agricultural tools, education, micro finance, water, and power. We take into consideration all stakeholders in the process and ensurecommunities bring forth their own ideas and participate in the process to sow sustainable action.
Problem
Poverty in Cameroon remains acritical challenge, with approximately 37.7% of the population living below the national poverty line, affecting over 10 million people as of 2022. Despite being alower-middle-income country, rapid population growth and slow economic development have caused the absolute number of poor individuals to rise.
Poverty became heavily concentrated since 2016 in the NW and SW as a result of the armed conflict affecting these regions. Over 800000 persons had fled their homes in 2022 and more than half became unemployed.
Key Causes and Drivers:
- Conflict and Instability
- Agricultural Vulnerability
- Increase in population and high unemployment
- Poor governance and corruption
- Lack of basic amenities (roads, water, electricity) in rural areas
- Economic Factors (commerce, limited knowledge for agriculture, lack of specialization)
- Inequality and discrimination
