The Kongwe, Bonamoni, Mudeka, and Muanda WASH Project
The Kongwe, Bonamoni, Mudeka, and Muanda WASH Project is a strategic initiative dedicated to improving Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) standards across these four interconnected communities in the Southwest Region. Managed by the MWEN Group, the project focuses on providing long-term solutions to water scarcity and hygiene-related health risks.
Core Project Pillars
Solar-Powered Borehole Infrastructure:
The project prioritizes the implementation of solar-powered borehole projects to provide reliable and clean drinking water to rural households.
Clean Water Access: By utilizing sustainable energy, the project ensures a consistent water supply that is not dependent on local power grids, specifically targeting underserved areas.
Community Capacity Building: Local residents are engaged in the planning and management of the water points to ensure the infrastructure is maintained and protected.
Public Health Protection: Providing clean water directly mitigates the risk of waterborne diseases, improving the overall health and safety of families in the Kongwe, Bonamoni, Mudeka, and Muanda axis.
Strategic Objectives
Rural Empowerment:
To provide rural communities with modern water infrastructure that supports both household needs and small-scale community development.
Resource Sustainability: Leveraging solar energy to minimize operational costs while maximizing the lifespan of the water delivery systems.
Accountability and Leadership: The project is overseen by team leaders with extensive experience in community leadership and professional financial oversight to ensure resource efficiency.
